As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on the strides made within the marketing industry, particularly by women.
Did you know that women drive 80% of buying power? Women control over $31.8 trillion in worldwide spending. And yet, less than 1% marketing firms are owned by women or nonbinary people.
This disparity is unsurprising, but it’s worth noting that in the U.S. we’re witnessing a significant shift as more women are not only entering but also excelling in various roles within the marketing sphere. Currently, statistics show that 60% of marketing jobs in the U.S. are held by women, marking a substantial increase in female representation within the field. Additionally, about 47% of Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) are now women, demonstrating their increasing influence and leadership within marketing departments across the nation.
While these growths are worth celebrating, we must also recognize that the journey towards gender equality is intersectional. Women encompass a diverse range of identities, experiences, and backgrounds. Women can be People of Color, Disabled, Queer, and belong to various other marginalized groups. Thus, our efforts towards gender equality must be intersectional, ensuring that all women, regardless of their backgrounds, have equal opportunities to thrive in the marketing profession.
At dozanü, we’re proud to be Deaf, Queer, and Women-owned and led. Every day we commit ourselves to this ongoing movement towards greater inclusivity and diversity within the marketing industry.
This Women’s History Month, let’s celebrate the achievements of women in marketing while also renewing our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all women, regardless of their intersectional identities, can thrive. Together, let’s continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and pave the way for a more equitable future in the marketing industry.
Join us in honoring the past, celebrating the present, and shaping the future of women in marketing.
Happy Women’s History Month from all of us at dozanü innovations!
